For those who know me, know I have bag fetish, so you can see my excitement when I came home to my new Coach duffle!
This leads to bigger question in my industry as corporations, buying groups are doing what grocery stores and department stores are doing. They are using private labels or generics to supplement their sales. They do this to make higher profit margins because private label protects the sale (cant get it anywhere else) and since their is no marketing, packaging or structurual costs....generally with lower pricing.
So this is exactly what I don't do, what I dont sell, and what I don't support. Stores forget sometimes that brands' marketing and quality is what drives people to stores. Yes, customers may buy a knockoff or lower priced alternative.
I buy brands. Why? What is the definition of brand? To me very simple: Consistency. Its everything you do around the brand that makes it special. How it makes you feel to own it or use it.
People have to understand, in sales. its not about price. True salesmanship, you sell value. Not in price, but the value of brand and what the brand offers.
Consistency: Quality, Image, Status, Packaging, Design, Art, Innovation, Function, Technology and so on.
I choose brand because I can and I deserve it.
